I believe Cole is a villain, because even when he was constantly retching spitting blood and had limbs that no longer worked, he was so angry still and mad at the world. Even when the spirit bear beat him up. While he was lying there, only his left arm working, he squished an innocent little caterpillar for crawling to close to him. He was so mad even though he had done the same thing to Peter Driscal. Which now turns me to Peters family, The Driscals. How do you think Peters family felt when their son was bloody and had damage done to him. I think his family pretty much wanted Cole dead. Cole just smirked when Peter started crying. Yet when he felt like crying he still blamed the world. When Garvey showed Cole the ingredients to the cake Cole didn't really care. He just treated the cake like dirt. The metaphor Garvey was trying to teach him was, people apart aren't that great ( he was referring to Cole) but together they can conquer anything. Now I will give you a brief summary of the book so far. Before Cole went to his remote island, he had a troubled life, his parents were split up, his father got so drunk he would beat Cole bloody. That is why Cole grew up the way he is, mean and awful. He beat people up and had been in trouble with the law before. He decides to go to the circle justice meeting where they discuss his mistakes and Garvey sends Cole off to the island. The first day or so he burns down the little cabin made for him, but the special blanket Garvey gave him called the at.oow, would not burn. Then the spirit bear comes and beats up Cole, for whatever you do to the animals you do to yourself. Remember that.
